Temple Renovator's Prayer    Say this daily PRAYER!

Dear Heavenly Father, I love You and I know that You love me (Prov 8:17 ) I resolve to speak the truth about my health. Fasting and Prayer    Fasting and Prayer is the Key to Success!

In our Temple Transformation Challenge Group, we just finished fasting from white flour and white sugar for Lent. We had some spectacular results.

Take Baby Steps    Reach Your Fitness Goals This Year!

1) Make small, realistic, easily attainable, measurable goals. Take "Baby Steps"!

If you haven't been working out at all, a goal to work-out for 1 hour 5x/week is not realistic! Take baby steps. "This week I'll work-out 15 min twice a week and next week I'll work-out for 20 min twice a week" and so on.

If you have been eating 3 huge meals with lots of fried food and 5 junky snacks a day, a goal to drink a shake twice a day and eat one small meal isn't realistic! Again, Take baby steps. Try cutting your portions of fried foods and adding a salad. Instead of eating 6 fried chicken wings with fries and white bread, try eating 4 wings, skip the french fries and add a salad and wheat bread.

If you haven't been eating ANY green vegetables at all, a goal to eat green vegetables with every meal is not realistic. Try eating a green vegetable at least once a day and start adding on from there.

If you have been gaining a half pound a week for the last few years, a goal to lose 4 pounds a week is not realistic! Instead set a goal to lose a pound every two weeks. That's 26 pounds in a year! If you need to lose 100 pounds it would take you 4 years, but guess what, it took you 20 years to gain!

2) Be consistent and honor your commitment.

What ever goal you set, put it in writing and journal your progress on a daily basis.

Keep tabs on yourself.

Reward your small successes (but not with an over indulgence).

3) Focus more on what you will be able to do, and how much better you feel as you reach each milestone, instead of the weight!

Being able to Praise and Worship God for 30 minutes without getting tired!

Fitting into that outfit that you haven't worn in a while.

Think about how much energy you get from your workout, and how it lifts your mood for the entire day!

 
Feed your Faith, NOT your FACE!    "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17 KJV) Speak God's word to feed your faith. It's not just what comes into your mouth that contributes to weight gain! It's also what comes out of your mouth! Speak Life! "Faith feeds on the impossible," says Dr. Bill Winston. Faith feeds on the truths and promises in the Word of God/ Bible! God loves you just the way you are, but there is always room for improvement. Don't say another negative thing about yourself! Speak yourself slim starting TODAY!

Feed your faith with these scriptures and watch your waistline shrink!

 
PLAN    If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!

In order to reach your health and fitness goals to be as healthy as possible, you must become focused and have a plan. For many Christians, the Holy Spirit has led you to quit smoking, alcohol and/or drugs and other vices. Unfortunately, many have picked up food as a coping mechanism or "drug of choice". Many have enjoyed "comfort food" far too much, and now are trying to get back into healthier habits.

Planning is the key. Stop asking yourself, "what do I have a taste for" and start planning nutritious meals for yourself and family. Plan three meals, 2 snacks, water and healthy deserts. Fruit smoothies, yogurt with granola, sorbet and low sugar oatmeal cookies make great deserts.

Get off of the "see food" diet, you know, you see food, so you eat it! Eat what you planned and stay on track. Remember that God has promised to give you a way of escape from every temptation. Remember to look for that escape route!

1Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

 
Wellness NOT Weight Loss    Being healthy is more than just weight loss. In fact weight loss is a problem because anything you lose, you can find again! Let's focus on "wellness" and "weight control". Your primary goal should be your overall well being. This would force you to eat health, nutritious, whole foods and avoid foods that are void of nutrition and loaded with fat and/or sugar.

For some, this may be a huge change. Especially if you are accustomed to eating things that "taste good," and the first thing you ask when trying a new food is "how does it taste?" You just need to decide today to make a change for the better. Make your first question, "what nutrients are in it?" Change can be difficult, but certainly not impossible. Memorize this scripture to help you make some positive changes in your life.

Place Your Life Before God

12 1-2 So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life-your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life-and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

 
Scriptures    The scriptures are your ammunition to fight the battle of the bulge!

The battle of the bulge is not yours...it's the Lord's. Use your scriptures for ammunition. Put on the whole armor of God. Fight for your health. The enemy wants you unhealthy and depressed. He wants you so heavy that you can't praise The Lord too long. He wants you to just sit there during praise and worship, because your feet hurt. He is a liar and the prince of illusion! Don't just give in! No weapon formed against you will prosper! Keep saying these scriptures, and keep fighting. I skipped to the end of the book, and guess what??? We won!! Hallelujah!

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh; (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of string holds;)" 2Corinthians 10:3-4

Build God's Temple With Bricks!    Are you Building God's Temple (Your Body) of Bricks, Sticks or Straw???

Remember the story of the three little pigs? One built their house of straw, one of sticks and one of bricks. When you eat junk food, you are building God's Temple with straw. When you eat processed and fast food, you are building God's Temple with sticks. When you eat wholesome, healthy fresh food, you are building God's Temple with bricks!

Food is defined as nourishment according to Webster's Dictionary. Food is not just something to eat, to fill our stomachs and to taste good. If there is no nourishment in it, then by definition it is not food. Just because it is edible and won't kill you today, does not make it food. A jelly bean is not food, but a raisin is.

Choose Life!(Deut.30:19) Build God's Temple (Your Body) with bricks/ wholesome, healthy food! (1Cor. 3:16,17 and 1Cor. 6:19)

Temple Renovation or Desecration?    Every time you eat or drink you are choosing whether to renovate or desecrate your Holy Temple/body. (1Cor 3:16-17, 6:19 & 10:31) That's why journaling is so effective in weight control. It puts a spot light on exactly what you are letting past your mouth gate into your temple.

If we focus on eating for nourishment and not for taste, emotions or pleasure, we will stay on the right track. Whatever you focus on will develop! Just like a camera, if you focus on on a sunset you don't expect a waterfall to develop. Focus on nutritious foods and a healthy body will develop and vise versa!

Don't fall into the trick of the enemy that it's too expensive to eat healthy foods. If you do the math, chips actually cost more than fresh produce! On average chips cost about $1.29 for 2.5 ounces which is about 6.4 servings to equal a pound. That would make a pound cost about $8.00! A pound of apples is about $2.00! A pound of greens is about $1.50! A pound of skinless, boneless chicken breast is about $5.00. We are not even taking into consideration your medical bills from eating unhealthy foods. The cost of medications and doctor visits.

Please don't spend $200 on a pair of shoes and $1.99 for a meal!! Take good care of God's Holy Temple/ your body and the benefits are priceless! Keep a journal, transform your mind and your body will follow!

 
Boost Your Immune System    It's flu season again. Did you know that being active boosts your immune system? Yes, especially up and down motions like bouncing, jumping, walking and running. One of the benefits of being physically active is that you drain your lymphatic system. The lymphatic system, bathes every cell, carrying nutrients to the cells and waste products away from the cells. Yet the lymph is totally dependent on physical activity to move. Without adequate movement the cells are left stewing in their own waste products and starving for nutrients, a situation that can contribute to acne, cancer, colds and other degenerative diseases as well as aging.

Think of the lymphatic system like a wind up toy. It will move for a while per wind up, then it will stop until wound up again. Or, like the old fashion "self winding watches". As long as you were wearing the watch, the movement of your wrist would keep it wound up, but if you took it off over night, you would have to vigorously shake it to get it moving again. Your lymphatic system will become very sluggish if you remain inactive for long periods of time. On the other hand, if you keep lymph moving well, by being active, your immune system and metabolism will improve, and just about every system in your body.

So the best defense is offense! Be active at least 15 consecutive minutes per day to boost your immune system and your metabolism! Being well and helping control your weight too!

 
SPIRITUAL CLEANSING    This week your goal is to develop a sense of urgency to totally renovate your Holy Temple/body. The first step in any renovation process is cleaning or "gutting out" any broken, damaged, decayed or useless items that can block your efforts. Get rid of "stinkin' thinkin'," as part of the cleansing phase, this will involve you taking a good hard look at yourself inside and out.

Do this mental exercise to facilitate your change of mind. Write a letter to God. Turn off your phone and any other distraction. Take out some paper and write as fast as you can, letting your thoughts flow freely. Don't type your thoughts on a computer document. Don't worry about grammar, spelling or punctuation. Just let it all out. This could take up to two hours and should be done without interruption in private.

This letter to God is to ask for forgiveness and repenting for defiling His Holy Temple/ your body in the past. Tell God everything that happened in throughout your life that made you use food for comfort. Tell about any abuse, or pain past and present. Tell Him how you felt and what you did. Tell Him things that you never told anyone, or even admitted to yourself. You will likely release some cleansing tears during this process, which is good and healing.

Write to God how you feel about your eating habits, about how overeating makes you feel, about how you want to change. Ask Him to be your guide on this journey. Ask Him to reveal to you the foods that are good for your temple renovation (everyone is different) Ask him to guard you from foods that defile your Holy Temple.

When you are finished writing your letter to God, read it back to yourself aloud. Ask God to forgive anyone that has harmed you. Thanks God for deliverance from all the things that cause you to overeat.

Now tear up the letter into tiny pieces and throw it away!

Congratulations! You have just purged, cleansed and gutted out your mind of self defeating thoughts! You have left your burdens on the cross! You have been forgiven and delivered! Now go on with your life in truth, health and prosperity! 3John2

Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind! Romans 12:2

 
STOP EATING C.R.A.P.    C. Chemicals- High fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, soda (carbonated beverages), trans fat, anything hydro-generated, and MSG.

R. Refined sugar and refined flour, and anything made with it (white bread, white pasta, deserts)

A. Alcohol (mixed drinks and frozen drinks)

P. Processed Foods - Anything in a box with a long shelf life (Chips, cookies, crackers, sugary cereals, candy, instant meals...especially if it is labeled "low fat" "diet" "sugar free")

Instead try to eat fresh wholesome food as much as possible. Frozen veggies are a good alternative to canned.

 
Praise the Pounds Off!    Most Holy God, Abba, Father, I will praise You when I eat right, and when I am eating wrong! I will praise You when I work out and when I don't! I will praise You at all times, because You are worthy to be praised. I trust that You will send Your angels to deliver me from anything that is blocking my progress. I give You all the honor and glory! In Jesus' name. Amen
 
21 Day Challenge!    No Chips, No sodas, No DIET sodas, No chocolate, No candy, No White breads, No White potatoes, No cookies or biscuits, No Fast food, No cakes, pastries or muffins.

You can do it! With every temptation the Lord will provide a way of escape. Just call on the Name of Jesus! After the 21 days you will have lost the cravings for them.

 
Stay AWAY from JUNK!    Don't frequent places that temp you to eat unhealthy meals. Don't fill you pantry and refrigerator with unhealthy foods. Don't feed unhealthy food to your children as an excuse for bringing it into the house. Why not set an example for the entire family. For the holidays bring a healthy dish like a mixed vegetable or fruit salad to your family gathering.
 
Drink water with a straw!    Drink your water out of a cup with a straw...you'll drink more! Don't wait until you are thirsty to drink water, because by then you are already dehydrated! The goal is to drink about 3 liters of water a day, or half of your weight in ounces. If you weigh 150 lbs then drink 75 ounces of water every day.
 
Avoid WHITE....    Avoid white bread, pasta and rice for 21 days. Forever would be even better, but just start with 21 days. Did you ever make paper machete sculptures? Well, you mix white flour and water together, making a paste. You then take strips of paper and dip them in the flour water mixture. You can then make a sculpture with the strips of paper, that when dried are as hard as cement!

That's what happens when you eat white bread and pasta. They get hard in your colon and can clog you up.

Focus on eating foods with lots of color. Colorful foods tend to have more nutrients AND move through your system quicker, which stimulates your immune system.

 
Measure Your Waist    Measure your waist monthly The same day of the month and same time if possible. Keep records. Set goals for yourself. According to the National Institutes for Health, when your waist line is larger than your hips you are at higher risk for type 2 diabetes and heart disease including high blood pressure and stroke.

It's not about being cute, it's about being healthy. You can't be an effective witness for God if you can't get off the pew to praise The Lord!

 
Knowledge + (God's Power x Action) = Victory    Eat healthy + drink pure water + be active = Be Healthy!

Please take care of God's Temple (your body) at least as well as you take care of your car.

You wouldn't put sugar in your gas tank would you???

Try to avoid sugar this week. See how much better you will feel!

You Have the RIGHT to Be Healthy!    Claim your right to be healthy. Be gentle with yourself along your journey toward wellness.

Avoid negative people, places and things that make it difficult to stay on track.

You can't fly like an eagle, if you are hanging around with buzzards.

 
How Much Water to Drink?    Drink at least eight-8 ounce servings of water a day, with a goal of 1ounce of water for every 2 pounds of your body weight. So if you weigh 120 pounds, you want to drink 60 ounces of water per day.

Water helps flush impurities and fat from your body, clearing your complexion and your mind!

Remember, if you wait until you are thirsty to drink water, you may already be dehydrated. Don't drink too late though, so you won't break your sleep to go to the bathroom :D

 
Eat MORE.....    Eat more frequent, high quality, balanced meals. Balanced means a fruit or vegetable, starch and protein. Fruit and nut bars are a great way to add extra meals without a lot of prep time!

Try eating every 2 hours, which will rev your metabolism up in just one day of eating like this.

Your metabolism is like a bonfire that needs to stay lit. Small sticks will keep it blazing. If you throw a big log on there it just might put it out!

 
Savor Your Food    Take time to enjoy your food, but don't feel like you must clean your plate. You could save over a hundred calories per day by leaving just one forkful of food at each meal!
 
Focus on Eating More...   

 

Focus on eating more fruits and vegetables.
Divide your plate...One half fruits and or vegetables, one forth lean protein and one forth starch.  Avoid empty calories. 

Your body just loves to store all of those extra calories as FAT!

Don't focus on what not to eat.  Focus on eating more nutrient dense foods.

 
Only Eat When Hungry    TODAY only eat when you are hungry (not for emotional reasons), and stop eating when you are full! Get off of the SEE-FOOD diet. You see food so you eat it! It's not rocket science! Eat less and exercise more... period! Tomorrow is another day.
